About Insulating Alumina Castable 40% Al2O3 P-CAST-A40In

Insulating Alumina Castable 40% Al2O3 P-CAST-A40In is an insulating castable based on lightweight chamotte with Min. 40% Al2O3, suitable for service temperatures up to 1250 °C. It has a hydraulic bond and is installed by casting with vibration. Material type according to the datasheet: Insulating castable; raw material basis: lightweight chamotte.

Insulating castables have a low bulk density and are used in back-up linings to reduce heat loss; they are not designed for direct contact with molten metal or heavy abrasion.

  • Bulk density: Approx. 1.4 g/cm³
  • Grain size: 0 – 5 mm
  • Cold crushing strength after drying at 110 °C: 150 – 200 kg/cm²

Installation, packaging and storage

Installation: casting with vibration. Water addition, drying and initial heat-up should follow the manufacturer's instructions to achieve the best properties. Packaging: 30 kg bags (dry mix, water is added on site). Shelf life: 6 months (dry, cool, frost-free place).
