About Olivine Sand for EBT
Olivine sand for EBT is used to fill the eccentric bottom tapping channel of electric arc furnaces; its high melting and sintering point, low heat loss and thermal shock resistance support free opening of the tap hole.
The filler sand is poured into the eccentric bottom tapping (EBT) channel of electric arc furnaces before the steel is tapped. The layer in contact with the melt sinters, while the rest stays loose, so the sand runs out and the steel flows without oxygen lancing when the channel is opened. A suitable chemistry and grain size increase the free-opening rate.
Olivine sand is also used in tundish lining mixes and other refractory applications, and is supplied in different grain sizes.
To choose the right sand, share your furnace and operating requirements with the Pas Espadana technical team.
