Product overview & application
About EBT Filler Sand (Olivine Based) P-OLIAFILL-40
EBT Filler Sand (Olivine Based) P-OLIAFILL-40 is based on olivine sand and is used to fill the eccentric bottom tapping (EBT) channel of electric arc furnaces before tapping, so that the channel opens freely when the slide gate or tap hole is opened. Grain size: 2 – 7 mm.
The filler sand is poured into the eccentric bottom tapping (EBT) channel of electric arc furnaces before the steel is tapped. The layer in contact with the melt sinters, while the rest stays loose, so the sand runs out and the steel flows without oxygen lancing when the channel is opened. A suitable chemistry and grain size increase the free-opening rate.
