About Ladle Well Filler Sand P-FM-LD2
Ladle Well Filler Sand P-FM-LD2 is based on pure SiO2, high grade chromite sand and is used to fill the well (nozzle) of steel ladles before tapping, so that the channel opens freely when the slide gate or tap hole is opened. Grain size: 0 – 1.5 mm.
The filler sand is poured into the well (nozzle) of steel ladles before the steel is tapped. The layer in contact with the melt sinters, while the rest stays loose, so the sand runs out and the steel flows without oxygen lancing when the channel is opened. A suitable chemistry and grain size increase the free-opening rate.
